D&D Ghosts of Saltmarsh? Yes Please!!

So this rumor is floating around that the next release for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons is a remake or re-envisioning of the Saltmarsh series – a.k.a. the Underwater Series from the old AD&D 1e days…

That series includes U1: The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, U2: Danger at Dunwater, and U3: The Final Enemy. I have extremely fond memories of this series and ran and played in it several times throughout the years. Here is the purported cover of the next release:

Ghosts of Saltmarsh – Coming May 21st 2019

Text from the Amazon.com page:

Ghosts of Saltmarsh brings classic adventures into fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons. This adventure book combines some of the most popular classic adventures from the first edition of Dungeons & Dragons including the classic “U” series, plus some of the best nautical adventures from the history of Dungeon Magazine: Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, Danger at Dunwater, Salvage Operation, Isle of the Abbey, The Final Enemy, Tammeraut’s Fate, The Styes.

• Ghosts of Salt Marsh includes a variety of seafaring adventures, enough to take characters from level 1 to level 12.

• This supplement introduces the port town of Saltmarsh, the perfect starting point for a nautical campaign.

• Each adventure can be played individually, inserted into your ongoing game or combined into a single epic nautical campaign.

• Dungeon Masters will find rules for ships and sea travel, deck plans for various vessels, an appendix with rules for new and classic monsters, and much more.

Sounds like this is a combination long-ish campaign (as we have seen from 5e D&D before) and a Tales from the Yawning Portal style book of updates of older modules. I am so looking forward to this, and I wanted to let everyone know that this is happening so that you can all be excited as well! Happy D&D!!

If this is, indeed, the next release from Wizards of the Coast, then this will definitely be the adventure I run for my newbie player podcast!

Until Next Time, I wish you good gaming!
